How Priyanka Chopra’s Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' went horribly wrong
The actress' first online interaction with fans left a lot of questions unanswered
Hyderabad: Actress Priyanka Chopra’s interaction with her fans on Reddit on Wednesday turned out to be quite an unpleasant affair as people kept asking her about the justification of having a road named after her father in Mumbai, her international music career and her collaboration with Pitbull.
User agentbigman asked: “What contributions has your father made that a road was named after him and not after countless other people who strived and died for India?... the whole deal of renaming a road unnecessarily is shady and reeks of corruption.”
While PC chose to not answer the question, it got several hundred responses from users like, “I will eat my hat if she answers this,” and, “This may be the first AMA (Ask Me Anything) where the top comment is not answered.”
Another user asked her, “Don’t you think that your collaboration with Pitbull (Exotic) is racist (in that exotification is a form of racism)??”
And PC came up with a prompt reply: “Seriously? Just stop. The world doesn’t need more hate! Stop reading into things. We are just two global artistes collaborating and sharing our cultures. Stop trying to find the bad in good!”
There were also comments on her choice of endorsements. “You keep promoting fairness products... Why is it sub human to be dark skinned?” asked user AWolfAtThedoor.
This question too, like several others, went unanswered and hence someone commented: “Is this an AMA or AMAWA? (Ask Me Anything Won’t Answer).”
Perhaps Priyanka has now learnt the importance of moderators to avoid below-the-belt comments in future.
