Right from her debut film ABCD, Aparna Gopinath has shown a penchant for roving out of the box, and has cast a spell on the Malayali audience by mesmerising not only with her beauty, but also with her remarkable performance. The actress, blessed with pouting lips and confident eyes, is bagging appreciation after showcasing a remarkable performance in her latest film Munnariyippu, opposite Mammootty.
“I am over the moon now. Anjali was a very challenging role compared to Madumitha, Siya or Lily. She is an ambitious journalist with an inquisitive mind and a workaholic who is serious and intelligent. I worked really hard to downplay the character," she explains effusively. The young lady who is often tagged as ‘not your typical starlet kind’ considers herself fortunate to share the screen space with superstar Mammootty, father of Dulquer Salmaan, her co-star in her maiden film ABCD. “Mammootty is a legend. His magnanimity and flexibility are beyond words. Like father like son, Dulquer too is fantastic. I will not be able to compare their acting skills but they are definitely wonderful human beings. I am closer to Dulquer,” she explains without hiding her excitement.
Getting more explicit about Anjali Arakkal of Munnariyippu, Aparna admits that the journalists’ job is not as easy as people think. “Anjali is someone who believes that what she writes should be heard. The way she finds her stories and nails it by finding justice is excellent. Though I was a fan, my respect for the determined female journalists out there has increased tremendously.”
The actress, who is not very fluent in Malayalam, had to do a lot of homework to deliver the lengthy dialogues that Anjali effortlessly handles in the film, which has become the talk of the town after the film’s release. “Thanks to director Venu and script writer Unni , I was able to speak my lines in perfect Kottayam accent. I have also taken a lot of care while giving life to the character, especially my body language.”
Besides her unique acting style, there are a plenty of reasons to develop a crush on Aparna. The bold and beautiful woman, who juggles theatre and films, believes that there is nothing called a ‘break from acting in her life’. “I am living my passion and I love it!” she sums up.
