London: The extinct elephant bird egg that is being termed as the world’s biggest egg might fetch 50,000 pounds at an auction.
The egg is over a foot long and is big enough to hold the contents of seven ostrich eggs, 100 chicken eggs or 12,000 hummingbird eggs, the Daily Express reported. The extinct elephant bird egg is the largest egg ever recorded.
Errol Fuller, curator of the sale at Summers Place Auctions, said that the egg of one of these birds was simply a miracle and it was over a foot in length and larger than any known dinosaur egg.
The auction will take place in Billingshurst, West Sussex, England and is expected to fetch between 30,000 pounds and 50,000 pounds.
