The Canadian tech giant BlackBerry has acknowledged that BB 10 OS faces vulnerability. The vulnerability affects every user with BlackBerry under the BB 10 OS installed.

According to the company the vulnerability lies in the BlackBerry World, where an attacker can access the users data and settings.

A report on SoftPedia stated, ‘the attacker is able to intercept a user’s application download or update request over a compromised network and replace the response from the server with a malicious file that the customer will unknowingly install on his own device.’

BlackBerry has managed to patch the vulnerability and has released an update to counter the hack, urging users to immediately update to the newer version.

The report further stated, ‘For BlackBerry 10.3.0 users, the Canadian company has released BlackBerry World version 5.1.0.53 and later, while for BlackBerry 10.2.1 users a new BlackBerry World app 5.0.0.263 and later should be installed in order to be protected from said vulnerability.’

Users should immediately update their handsets so that they are safe. Those who cannot update over the air, should look up the BlackBerry portal for details on how they can update manually.
