De-clutter your inner self this Diwali
Our inner self gets cleansed when we practice good deeds and self-introspection
The run-up to Diwali is synonymous with a cleaning and decorating spree. From removing old unused objects from your home to buying gifts and sweets for friends and family, we celebrate this day with lots of happiness and re-organise our lives for the rest of the year.
Although we clean our houses on a regular basis, this is a thorough clean-up during the festival as we discover unused objects and dirty corners. But there’s one aspect many of us ignore or don’t pay attention to. Cleaning of physical space is important, but so is cleaning of inner self, removal of negative energy stored in the form of feelings, thoughts and habits.
Our inner self is the combination of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual self. Inner self is our real “self”. Cluttered inner self creates feelings of burden and stress, which is similar to the feeling of a cluttered house. Interestingly, we don’t even know what is occupying the space until we sit down and clean them both — self and house.
Our inner self gets cleansed when we practice good deeds and self-introspection. This Diwali, let’s de-clutter our inner self with these simple steps:
* Write down your life on a paper under the categories: friendship, love, health, happy events, sad events, etc. This way you will reflect yourself and know yourself better.
* Spend time in forgiving and seeking forgiveness in your heart.
* Let go of things, people and situations which no longer serve you good, as clinging on to past events is a blockage which never lets us move forward freely.
* Meditation brings peace to inner self.
* Involve yourself in things which bring you satisfaction and happiness like — joining dance or cooking classes, or starting a daily exercise routine.
* Make a wishlist and work on it.
* Simplicity is the best policy if you want to live a clutter-free life.
* Follow virtues like loving, kindness, generosity, non-stealing, non-laziness.
* Become your own best friend and keep a check on yourself for regular cleansing of inner self.
When we feel light and beautiful, everything around us feels similar. So this Diwali, don’t miss lighting the lamp of your inner self which shall shine through your aura and enlighten your life.
