London: A 60-year-old man recently got married to his 100-year-old girlfriend in a nursing home.

The happy couple, which has spent more than 11 years together in the care home, finally decided to tie the knot with residents and staff from the home in attendance, the Daily Express reported.

Wheelchair-bound Marfa Plotnikova was moved into the nursing home after she outlived her previous husband and their two children and met Afanasii Harin, who had spent his entire life in the care home after being abandoned at birth.

Harin, who is blind, said that he knows a lot of people will think this is strange, but he doesn't care and that love is one of the most important things, and he wanted to show the ultimate expression of that by taking Marfa for his wife.

According to a nurse at the care home, Harin has a wicked sense of humour and would make Plotnikova howl with laughter and they would often take long walks together and gradually people could see the relationship between them blossom and bloom into true love.
