Magical moments worth dying for
An age where hook-ups and break-ups are as instant as the making of processed food
How many of us would not only plan to write a book, but also get it published for our partner. Inba Vignesh’s last resort to woo her was to solely dedicate a book for his ladylove. Though Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone is the first book he ever read, he is now the author of Law of Jiluk, and is already in full swing for his sequel.
But what is ‘Jiluk’? Vignesh responds, “It is when a few bucks made an extra bite special; and when playing was not just exercise, or for passing time, but was just everything, and many more moments that defined living life to its fullest. So, flipping through this book generates those magical ‘Jiluk’ seconds that are worth dying for.”
It is all a flashback to adolescence in Inba Vignesh’s first book that takes the readers through those moments of life which are most yearned for. A time when excitement was automatically a part of everyday living, contrary to paying for excitement, as we grow older. An age where hook-ups and break-ups are as instant as the making of processed food. His romantic fiction was rejected by most leading publishers in the country. “But the turning point came when an unknown American reviewer gave thumbs up for my work, except he said that the protagonist can’t be idolised,” he says.
Ironically, after the book’s release, Inba figures that, “It perfectly connects to all readers. Interestingly, my first reader was my father,” he adds. With a series of compelling events and attention to detail for every move of teenage years, this young author successfully traversed down memory lane in the backdrop of lush-green Nilgiris. He says the support he received from his family was the most crucial aspect of his success as a writer.
Did all the analogies he drew to Bollywood in this book actually occur? Inba has only one answer, “You can be damn sure it happened, unless it is personally felt otherwise. The name is intriguing enough for anybody to pick up a copy of the book, Law of Jiluk. Like Tao. Read on to find out more about this mesmerising word,” he asserts.
