While matrimonial sites are widely accepted in India, dating apps still seem to be at a nascent stage. But enter Tinder, and dating seems to have become latest part of the Indian way of finding love. Thanks to the invasion of mobiles and social networks, things are fast evolving. Apart from Tinder, here are a host of new Indian apps to show you eligible suitors.
1. Woo - Woo claims to have made 12,000 matches on the app since July. Thrill, that started beta testing about a year ago, claims to have nearly 50,000 users, while Desicrush, also active in the US and the UK, has about 60,000 from India alone.
2. Thrill - Giving more power to women: Thrill is interesting because of its central promise. Men cannot automatically join Thrill’s network. They have to be voted in by Thrill’s community of women in order to join. Men can be ‘thrilling’ if they have a normal amount of Facebook friends and interests.
3. Truly Madly - The line blurs in this app between dating or a matrimony? In the world of anonymous apps, verified dating profiles could be a great USP but Truly Madly demands details such as religion, income status.
In these apps, Indian developers have tried to introduce more privacy controls and filtering options. The results ofcourse vary.
