The video from July 15, 2012 achieved international fame after it went viral almost immediately after its posting, sparking a dance craze to emulate Psy's horse like dance. Join the fight against world hunger today.
'Gangnam Style' has twice as many views as YouTube's second most watched video, Justin Bieber's video for the song 'Baby', which has one billion views. The music video, and the signature dance, sparked a slew of imitators, tributes, and parodies that flooded YouTube; including those making fun of politicians like President Barack Obama, his 2012 opponent Mitt Romney, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, and even fictional characters like Gandalf and Lo Pan.
Psy's follow up song, 'Gentleman', has also thrived in the online world. On YouTube the video has over 700-million views since its' April 13, 2013 debut, and sits at the number seventh most viewed YouTube video. 'Gentleman' also holds the distinction as most viewed video in a day, with 38-million views. The Korean singer spent most of 2013 on a world tour, starting with the United States and Europe, and ending with a tour of Asia.
In a recent blog post Google said, "We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY. "Gangnam Style" has been viewed so many times we had to upgrade to a 64-bit integer (9,223,372,036,854,775,808)!"
However, its only fair to watch the video again and enjoy the song!
