Motorola Moto G to get Lollipop v5.0.1 directly
Motorola might skip the Lollipop v5.0 for the Moto G and head to v5.0.1 directly
Motorola G users who have the old and new handsets are in for a better surprise. Some Moto G users were lucky to get the Lollipop v5.0 updates earlier, but Motorola seems to have pulled back for a reason.
Motorola has been testing the new update for the Android Lollipop, v5.0.1, which seems to be the final update to be rolled out instead.
According to Droid-Life, Motorola is rolling out the Lollipop v5.0.1 update for both the Moto G old versions (2013) as well as for the new versions (2014).
The Moto G (2nd version) handsets are one of the first devices to see the Lollipop v5.0.1 updates, even before the Nexus and Google Play Edition handsets. Motorola had earlier announced (in November) that the Moto G (2nd Generation) handsets will receive the Lollipop v5.0 updates, but unfortunately didn’t.
The report also stated that the Moto G (1st editions) will be receiving the Lollipop v5.0.1 update directly.
Moto G users should be aware that the update will take a while to roll out, since the manufacturer sends out the update in phases, depending on the continent in priority. However, Moto fans should keep checking their devices for updates pretty often.
Droid-life has reported a user sending in a screenshot of the two devices which have already received the Lollipop v5.0.1 updates.
