Imagine a smartphone as a simple hardware panel, similar to a desktop computer or a laptop. The hardware stays common, but you as a user have a choice to load it with the operating system of your choice—Windows, Linux or anything else. Future smartphones could be similarly built with compatible hardware and all one needs to do it choose the operating system they are comfortable with.

Alcatel OneTouch has announced a new smartphone, which can change the way you use a smartphone tomorrow. Pixi 3, the latest smartphone from Alcatel is a smartphone that can run the favourite operating system of your choice.

According to PhoneScoop, Alcatel’s OneTouch Pixi 3 is an affordable range of smartphones, which is one of the first smartphones in the market to run multi-platform operating systems. Windows, Firefox or Android, you have the liberty to choose your comfortable operating system.

However, for now, consumers cannot choose to switch between the operating systems on their own, but the operating systems will be switched by the carriers when requested. We hope Apple also releases the source code (which seems impossible for now) so that fans can also have the luxury of installing iOS on the device.

The Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 is available in four variants—3.5-inch, 4-inch, 4.5-inch and 5-inch screen sizes. The handsets support 3G, 4G and LTE, ready for the near future of connectivity. The Pixi 3 has not yet been launched, but will be soon seen at the CES this month.

Additionally, Alcatel has also secretly announced a wearable—a smartwatch, but has not disclosed any details pertaining the product.
