'Mean Girls' musical is 60 per cent written: composer
Richmond also added that the musical will feature a song called 'Old Blonde Song'
London: Composer Jeff Richmond has given an update on his forthcoming "Mean Girls" musical that the adaptation is '60 per cent written'.
Richmond, 54, is married to "Mean Girls" actress and writer Tina Fey, reported Digital Spy. "There's been quite a lot of progress on it. Nell Benjamin of Legally Blonde fame, she's working with us as a lyricist. We've been working for a long time now," Richmond said.
"I'm going to say it's like 60 per cent written, and it's being staffed creatively. We are looking to do some actual solid readings coming around this summer."
Richmond went on to say that the musical will feature a song called 'Old Blonde Song', which is sung by Regina George's mother (played by Amy Poehler in the 2004 movie).
Fey confirmed plans to adapt "Mean Girls" into a musical back in 2013.
