Have you been using toilet paper wrong your entire life? It’s the debate  many people have in households around the country – and it’s an important one. Does the toilet paper roll from over or under the holder?

This is the original patent filed in the US for the toilet paper roll – and it can clearly be seen rolling from above the holder. According to the
DailyMail,
a 124-year-old patent from 22 December 1891 clearly illustrates an 'over' arrangement for toilet paper.

Writer Owen Williams discovered the toilet paper patent online, and wasted no time in sharing his new-found information with his 8,000 followers on Twitter. The patent was created by the inventor of perforated toilet paper sheets, New York business man Seth Wheeler, who is also known as the father of modern toilet paper.

According to Toilet Paper History, Wheeler was 'inventor' of toilet paper" and the owner of the Albany Perforated Wrapping Paper Company, the first business to sell toilet paper on a roll. While this "new evidence" is actually very old evidence, the great mystery has finally been resolved.
