Akshay Kumar has completed over 25 years in the Hindi film industry and is seen as one of the most bankable names. But he has one grouse. Akshay rues that he is ignored at most award functions. Having done everything from comedy to action, in his own words, he fails to understand why only the romantic heroes walk away with Best Actor awards.
Akshay says, “I don’t get any appreciation from award nights.

It’s a funny thing that actors who do romantic films get the Best Actor award but what about people who do comic roles? Is that not acting? Why do people see romance as higher (craft) and comedy as lesser? Even when I’m doing comedy, I’m the hero of the film. So don’t differentiate.

You should be choosing on the basis of good acting and not genre. Unfortunately, here, jo zyada chillata hai, usko award milta hai.” One of Akshay’s most famous comedy films is Hera Pheri, but the actor is not a part of the third installment of the film. He says, “Yes, I miss being a part of Hera Phera 3. I don’t know about the script. I’m sure they will make a brilliant film because the characters are really good. The reason I’m not doing the film is personal.”

So what does he feel about constantly being pitted against the Khans as well as the newer lot of actors? “It is not about me being better than the Khans or vice versa. I work with new actors and I learn by seeing how they conduct themselves. I don’t see myself as a racehorse that needs to compete,” he says.
