Movie review 'Bombay Mitai': Hop onto to this ‘tasty’ ride
This one is a must watch
With no big stars - both on and off screen, Bombay Mitai was another release for this week with no hype or huge expectations riding on it. But, expect an unexpected twist as anything can happen in movies! It eventually turns out to be a great joyful experience for little over two hours packed with a complete laughter ride. Amidst growing trend amongst many young directors soon turning their attention towards established stars to fulfil their ‘desire’ to make a movie for ‘them’, this one breathes freshness which is predominantly based on simple and effective screenplay with a sensible making. On the whole, the storyline is very plain – four friends are on a long drive from Bengaluru to Karwar with a twist in the tale. Like how plain pizza dough when cooked after adding right amount of delicious ingredients, makes it tasty to eat, Bombay Mitai with simple narration made with best ingredients such as good script work, decent performances, fresh comedy, and brilliant detailed work while filming few scenes, makes it a perfect entertaining ride.
The first half is too brilliant which revolves around the ‘zero figure’ Disha Pandey who keeps the audience busy with their eye popped out every time the camera tilts up and down capturing the elegant beauty. Chikkanna makes it more fun to watch alongside Niranjan Deshpande and Vikram. The friendly fight to impress our zero-figure is a plot not to be missed. Detailed scenes on how the three guys became friends over a local cricket match is icing on the cake. The fun ride takes a serious turn when they reach their friends place in Karwar for his birthday celebration. It takes sometimes to bounce back in the second half, and the joy ride is back on track. Disha Pandey’s charisma (it’s her second movie!) and Chikkanna’s perfect comic timing with Niranjan being the booster and Vikram driving smoothly with the character, this one is a must watch. Go, hop onto this fun ride.
