Anu Elizabeth Jose is a great admirer of Bijibal’s music and it had always been her dream to work with him. When an opportunity to fulfill this dream knocked at the door, even though she was busy with her interior design course, she didn’t hesitate. For the first time, Anu has penned lyrics for the music by Bijibal in the movie 32aam Adhyayam 23aam Vaakyam.

“There are three songs in the movie, including the theme song. I worked on two of the songs, both melodies, with Bijibal sir. I am happy that I got to realise my dream. Working with sir was very nice. When I needed time to write the lyrics, he gave me time and did not rush me. I felt comfortable,” says Anu. She has given up her career as an engineer to study interior designing. “I worked as an engineer for two years. But soon found it was not my cup of tea. I wanted to work in a creative field and hence chose interior designing,” she adds.

Anu came into the limelight almost two years ago with her songs Shyamambaram, Thattathin Marayathe Penne and Muthuchippi Poloru from the movie Thattathin Marayathu. After that, she has penned nearly thirty songs and her latest work includes two songs — Neelambalil and Parvana Vidhuve — from the movie Oru Vadakkan Selfie. Ask her how she works on her songs and she replies, “I write lyrics after listening to the tune. When I do that, words flow effortlessly. I am comfortable with this method.”

Anu believes that she was lucky to begin her career with Vineeth Sreenivasan and his team. In OVS too,  she has worked with them. Music for most of her songs was scored by Shaan Rahman. About working with Vineeth and Shaan, she says, “They are like my family. They are the reason I am now here. Even if I commit a mistake, they will gently let me know and make me feel comfortable. Also, they allow me to work on different types of songs. My commitment to them is so great that if they ask me to work on a project, I will drop everything and do the work for them.”

What are her future plans? “I will certainly continue to write songs. I have one more ambition — I want to work with A.R. Rahman at least once,” she says.
