Fitness is their mantra and these two IIT Roorkee graduates Satya Vyas and Shubhanshu Srivastava who founded Orobind, a city-based start-up, are connecting fitness enthusiasts with trusted coaches through their app. The 29-year-old boys after a tryst with a food delivery venture and a stint with Chai Point decided to do their bit for a healthier community.
“We are from the same batch of 2008 IIT and after working for a food start-up, we had this urge to do something related to health. We make it possible for people to achieve their health goals. After passing out from IIT, I also worked abroad for a while. Both of us worked at Chai Point for three years and stepped out last year, as we wanted to do something to leverage technology with personal experience and at the same time make it convenient for users. The name Orobind was given as it instills hope for good things. The best part is that one doesn’t have to wade through traffic jams as personal trainers come to the doorstep. Since it’s all technology driven, there’s more impact. We have an android app and the iOS app will be up next. The idea came about when we realised how we could make personal trainers affordable and convenient,” effuses the suave Satya Vyas.
Proud of the fact that a lot of ladies in the age group of 20 to 40, who have tried this have lost many kilos, Shubhanshu states, “A team of experts in our office keep track of their performance, vitals and how many hours they sleep, how much and what you eat and drink etc. There is also an engagement expert. So if there are 15 ladies who’re working out with different coaches, they can compare their performance, to keep motivated and get healthy peer pressure. We also have workout groups.”
Addressing the problem of inherent aspiration to look good and lead a healthy life that takes a back seat, with the lifestyle we lead and the work pressure, Satya explains, “The coaches come to the doorstep with equipments and the app also has a personal health assistant where you can chat. The coaches assist in analysis of data from your tracking apps give personalised insight on how to improve.”
Both the boys admit to being health freaks. “I have played cricket at the national level and also for IIT and love to hit the gym and Shubhanshu likes long distance running.”
