Cut Video is known on YouTube for making its ‘100 Years of Beauty’ videos but it’s latest episode, based on Indian beauty through the last ten decades, has raised the channel’s popularity among Indians.

Model and dancer Trisha Miglani mimics famous Indian actresses from the early 1910s to the 2010s, showing how vast the change in an Indian woman’s attire changes through the course of 100 years, which has been highly influenced by Bollywood. Inspirations for the video were put up on Cut Video’s Pinterest account.

This two-minute video takes us from saris and bindis to mehendi and chanya cholis.

In the early 1910s to 1940s woman sported saris with pallus over their heads and big dangling earrings. Some famous women portrayed here were Sulochana, Devika Rani and Madhubala.

In the 1950s to 1990s Indian woman started trying out different hairstyles and wearing their hair loose. Some famous women portrayed were Nargis, Sharmila Tagore, Zeenat Aman, Shridevi and Jaya Prada.

In the last two decades, which are the ones most of us have seen, Bollywood is known for it’s fancy attire and beautiful jewellery and Indian actresses have looks that are often envied and imitated by girls in these two decades. Actresses here include Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Other videos made by Cut Video in the ‘100 Years of Beauty segment include USA, Philippines, Iran, Mexico and Korea, which deal with the evolution of beauty in those specific countries.

After watching this video we think it is safe to say that through the decades, Indian woman have not lost their appeal, and they never will.
