She might have done only a few movies, but pretty much all her films have been hits The 7G Rainbow Colony girl Sonia Agarwal is excited about her role in Palakkad Madhavan where she’s paired opposite comedian Vivekh.“I play Vivekh’s wife, a bold Palakkad maami, which is why I accepted the film. It is a family drama that has comedy. I have been in the industry for 12 years but have never done a film that is a full-on comedy. I’ve done only emotional movies (which I am confident that I can do) where I get to cry. Jokes apart, I love to act in crying scenes because I get to use glycerine and cry,” she laughs.

The actress is all praise for Vivekh and says the role wouldn’t have been possible without his support. “Initially, I was quite apprehensive if I could do justice to the role, but I went ahead with it because I love challenges,” she says, and adds she was quite nervous to share the screen with someone who has done so many comedy roles. “But he made me comfortable. The toughest part was to not laugh when I was around him,” she gushes.

Sonia says that she had to gain weight to suit her role in Palakkad Madhavan. “After my comeback, I decided to lose weight and I am totally into being fit now, keeping my weight under check. I also make it a point to include a lot of protein in my food and work out for two hours daily. But for this film, since they wanted me to be a bit plump, I’ve started including more chicken in my diet chart,” she chuckles.

Sonia is also part of Thiru’s film where she plays Samuthirakani’s wife. Asked what’s next, she says, “I am here to do good films that brings out the ‘artiste’ in me. I feel this year is going to be good for me,” she signs off.
