A flea affair in Hyderabad
Hyderabad saw a market that boasts of art, handicrafts and knick-knack
What does one do on a lazy Sunday as this one after the rains have cooled down the city? One can wear their most stylish dresses and make way to Marakesh in Jubilee Hills where Little Shacks has organised a one-of-its-kind flea market full of fun, music and a bunch of goodies to shop. The market is a perfect place for shopaholics and also a platform for artists to showcase their talents.
“The concept is of the Goa flea markets. It has a very festive feel to it. I have been to Goa and Bengaluru flea markets and we tried to recreate something here. The concept is inspired by the Buffalo Wilds in the US,” said Pratyusha of Little Shacks. From knick-knacks at throwaway prices to dresses and jewellery, which on the steeper side, there is something for every pocket. Men usually do not visit exhibitions, so they have tried to a build an ambience where people can come with their families and have a good time. Shweta Reddy, co-founder of Ara and Lyra, an online fashion jewellery store, came all the way from Hong Kong to set up a stall here. “I would be able to see what people like in India as our clientele comes mostly from Australia.”
Madhulika Jhawar, a clothes designer says, she is very happy with the ambience. “The vibe is very young! My clothes cater to the young working woman. Being a part of this market serves my purpose as I can interact with people and showcase my work.”
