Mumbai-based model-turned-actress Akanksha is back in Mollywood after Shibu Gangadharan’s Praise the Lord, in the upcoming Nadirsha movie Amar Akbar Antony. The actress who is presently busy with the promotion of her debut Bollywood movie Calendar Girls, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, is vocal about her excitement at the opportunity she has got to work opposite Prithivraj in her Mollywood film. “I think Prithviraj is the most handsome looking actor in our industry right now and I absolutely love him.”

“So, when I saw that I was being cast as his love interest, I didn’t have any second thoughts about taking up this role. It was amazing to shoot alongside him for the movie and, though we didn’t get much time to chit-chat because of the hectic schedule of the shoot, we had a good rapport. Getting to work with some of the best crew, be it the director or cinematographer, was an added attraction,” says Akanksha.

Explaining further she adds, “I have become very comfortable in Mollywood industry as people are very down-to-earth and put you at ease on the sets with their warmth. Whether it was Mammootty sir during the shoot of Praise the Lord or Prithviraj during Amar Akbar Antony, you don’t feel like you are working with superstars because they don’t have any airs! The talent that Mollywood has is also something that I’m amazed by when I come here to shoot. Thanks to Praise the Lord for which I dubbed my own dialogues, I’m comfortable with the language as well now, although I won’t be dubbing for Amar Akbar Antony as my accent wouldn’t suit the character. But I’m looking forward to work in more Malayalam projects.”

In her Bollywood debut, Akanksha plays a calendar model along with four other actresses. The movie revolves around the lives of models who become popular through calendar shoots. “I’m excited about my character in Calendar Girls as I play a lead role in the movie. I had the chance to work with a national award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar which was an amazing experience. I have been working for this project for the past one year and now I’m here in Mumbai for the promotions of the film. The film is expected to release in August,” says Akanksha. Apart from the Hindi movie, Akanksha also has two Kannada projects in the pipeline, one of which will release this July.
