Mumbai: Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are all set to lock horns on Eid 2016, with both their films -- ‘Raees’ and ‘Sultan’ -- scheduled to release on the festival weekend.
On Tuesday, Salman Khan fans were treated to a surprise first teaser of ‘Sultan’ that will see the star playing a wrestler. Through the 30-second clip, the makers made an official announcement that the film would hit theatres next year, on Eid, which was originally a date slated out for Shah Rukh Khan’s political drama ‘Raees’.
Shah Rukh has already finished shooting for the first schedule of the film, where he will be seen playing a politician and gangster in Gujarat of the 1980s. Salman on the other hand is yet to begin shooting the YRF sports flick and even find a ‘strong’ leading lady. Early this week, new reports suggested that Priyanka Chopra, who has played a role of a boxer, would be in the running for the part.
By the looks of it, the battle of century that will probably have Bollywood, fans and moviegoers, picking sides, will actually go down next year.
Soon after the release of the teaser, a hash tag #SultanEid2016 started trending, all thanks to Salman fans who spread the word like wild fire. SRK fans weren’t too far behind as they too boarded the bandwagon and stormed Twitter with #RaaesBhaiCheAbKiBaar.
This won’t be the first time that the two took on each other at the box office. The last time Shah Rukh and Salman bombed the box office was about a decade ago in 2006 when ‘Jaaneman’ and ‘Don’ released together on October 20.
Shah Rukh won the battle in 2006, but will Salman let him win the 2016 box office war?
