He’s the cool dude from the city who got lucky to get hip, crazy and wild. Bengaluru boy Roger Nilson Lobo was one of the two lucky winners from the country to be selected for an all-expense-paid trip to the Ibiza UEFA Champions League finals party in Ibiza. The opening party of the season, that was held recently, was one of the craziest parties ever. We ask the product marketing professional working for Oracle in the city on how he got lucky and the 30-year-old boy reveals, “I heard about the contest on radio Indigo and scanned it on BlippAR, an augmented reality mobile app. Once scanned, my entry was submitted and I won through a lucky draw. I guess, it was my lucky day.”
Recalling his trip to watch the UEFA Champions League Final in June, Roger who lives in Whitefield, shares, “I flew to Ibiza via Mumbai-Dubai-Madrid. Every minute spent there was out of this world.
“We stayed at a resort called Destino Pacha which was an experience in itself. We were at the sea shore in a cove with a giant screen planted in the middle of the cove and I was joined by about 300 winners from all over the world. Roberto Carlos entered the venue on a speed boat and was the celebrity guest for the night. The match itself was very exciting, especially after Juventus came back at Barca. The party continued through the night.”
Excited about having the time of his life, he adds on his experience, “The next day we went sailing on a Catamaran with a DJ on board, along the beautiful Ibiza coast and blue Mediterranean Sea. We were joined by five other catamarans; we circled four shipping containers which were placed on a float. There were stuntmen on jetboards performing some breathtaking sorties twenty feet high in the air and also mimicking the way seals and dolphins swim. In the middle of all this, a DJ made his entry and what followed were a few exciting live acts. This was followed by another party on the sea shore at Blue Marlin which went on well into the night. We returned the next day to Bengaluru. We had two five hour layovers at Madrid, which gave us the opportunity to soak in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city. I also visited the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium the home of Real Madrid CF.
The party on the boat in Ibiza is by far the best party I have ever been to. Nothing even comes close. Otherwise I am regular at parties and music festivals which happen in Bengaluru like The Great Indian October Fest every year to mingle with fellow Bengalureans and party animals in the city. I also love taking weekend getaways and have been to Hampi, Mysore, Mangalore, Chitradurga, Kerala, Gokarna, Spiti and Goa. I’m also a huge football and motorsport junkie.”
