When it came to choosing between a 6,000 sq. ft independent bungalow and a 3,000 sq. ft apartment, businessman Ashish Khandelwal did not hesitate to choose the apartment. Today, he lives in the apartment with wife Madhuri, daughter Sandali and son Yagna.

And when you enter the four-bedroom apartment on the 23rd floor, the first thing you notice is the “leaf theme”. Ashish says, “You can notice the leaf motif throughout our home. Be it as the panelling on the walls or the separate wall panelling, all are handmade from MDF.”

Ashish had also insisted on simple yet spacious interiors. “I needed more space so that it would be easier for my parents. They also like to hold pujas, so it would be easier to accommodate people,” says Ashish.

Interior designer Satyajit Tuljapurkar thus had to keep in mind not to have many partitions in the home and keep a free flow of space. Talking about the interiors he says, “We have played with a lot of materials, be it the MDF motif or the mirror cladding on the walls. We have also used lighting as an enhancing element. For example, in the bedroom the headboard has an indirect lighting source.”
