To be part of the “in” crowd, join the metallic tattoo brigade. It’s the latest trend that is extremely popular at music festivals and beach weddings, as these temporary tattoos add sparkle to your outfit.
Stylist Indrakshi Ria Pattanaik says, “It’s a beautiful, chic and bohemian trend, perfect for summer. You need to have that gypsy vibe to carry it off. The best part is, you don’t weigh down your outfit with jewellery at weddings. For a night of clubbing or a pool party, such tattoos surely increase the glam quotient.”
Beyonce was seen wearing a bunch of metallic tattoos on her arms, neck, thigh and legs while holidaying last year. But how do we get it right?
Fashion blogger Masoom Minawala says, “These tattoos look amazing on your upper arm, wrist, ankle and fingers. It’s better to avoid the neck. It’s occasion-specific so teaming it up with real jewellery will also work wonders. It’s all about experimenting so it’s better to buy them in neutral shades.”
While stylists say it’s more of a girly trend, singer Chris Brown was spotted wearing golden tattoos near his eyes. Can men be a part of it too? Stylist Nitasha Gaurav, who’s known for styling Ranveer Singh on several occasions, says, “Men tend to be hairier so I’m not sure it would work. But, if they are waxed, a tribal, masculine design can be pulled off. These are just a glamorous version of stick-on tattoos and look wonderful on a darker skin tone.”
These are exotic and ideal for holidays; especially the choker style looks great on one’s neck. “These are flat strips. So you need not worry about the size. If it’s long, you can wind it around your neck a couple of times. It’s the same for the wrist,” Nitasha says. The tattoos are easily available online.
