It’s easy to dab on a little gloss on your lips in the morning and feel like your puckers have been taken care of. But the Indian climate can seriously wreak long-term havoc on your lips. Protect one of the most important assets of your face by following these simple tips:
Sun Protection: Cover your lips during the summer months, preferably with a balm with sunscreen with a minimum factor of 30. You may feel that this is unnecessary and that the job will be done by an ordinary lipstick or balm, but that is not the case. By using a product with certified sun protection, you keep lips hydrated and protect them from harmful UV radiation at the same time.
Protective lipsticks: There are also lipsticks with SPF available in the market. Rimmel and Yves Saint Laurent are two of the brands whose lipwear protects the skin of your lips from the sun.
Get rid of sheets: Suffer from dry and sticky sheets on your lips? Then scrub your lips with a mix of one tsp each of brown sugar, honey and Vaseline. Rinse off with cold water and apply a layer of fruity lip balm. You can otherwise use a mix of one tsp each of coconut oil and sea salt, for rather extreme cases of dry and rough lips. Your sheets will be gone in no time.
Natural protection: Before going to sleep, apply a mix of honey and beet juice to your lips and gently massage it off with a tootbrush the next morning. This will prevent your lips from further scaling or darkening.
