Happy Days for Nagalakshmi Sharma
The actress gets candid about her Sandalwood debut flick

She worked with a leading IT company but her life took an exciting turn when a friend asked her to give acting a shot. Nagalakshmi Sharma, who is close to Dr Rajkumar’s family has bagged an important role in the upcoming movie Akira, starring alongside Anish Tejashwar and Aditi Rao of Huchhudugaru game. She talks about her film Akira, her memories of thespian late Dr Rajkumar, and her mentor Raghavendra Rajkumar.
“Soon after my graduation in journalism from Christ College, I started working for an IT company. Recently, Anish, who plays the lead role in Akira, suggested that I take up acting. Though I was never serious about acting, I was always inspired by the great Dr Rajkumar. So, I decided to change gears in life,” she says adding that she approached Raghavendra Rajkumar, whom she considers as her mentor, for the opportunity. He was very happy that Anish, had advised her to act in the movie.
She has very fond memories of the thespian from her childhood days. “My mom is close to Mrs Paravathamma Rajkumar. We lived very close to Dr Rajkumar sir’s house. I have very fond memories of him while he use to go for walks. But my most memorable moment with him was while I was learning swimming during my seventh standard. I was very afraid to get into the pool. He somehow tricked me while speaking to me, and the next moment, I was in the water,” she shares.
Nagalakshmi portrays the role of a close friend to the hero in Akira. “Before signing a lead role, I wanted to learn and understand the art of film making and the best way is to by doing a supporting role. My character is somewhat similar to the one in Happy Days, a hit film which was a remake of Jolly Days in Telugu. I am eagerly awaiting the release of Akira following which I will decide what to do next,” she adds. Nagalakshmi considers Raghanna her mentor, and says, “He is very particular that I learn the art in a serious manner and feels the right opportunities will soon come my way. I am a great fan of Ramya and she has been my inspiration too. and I hope to make my mark as an actress soon.”
