New Delhi: Indian ace fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee gave the fashion lovers what they were looking for on the opening of 2015 Amazon India Couture Week in the National capital.

The Kolkata based designer collaborated with renowned French footwear designer Christian Louboutin to showcase his collection titled 'Bater' based on the most common hunting birds of India.

Whilst interacting with the media at the event, the 41-year-old designer said, "I wanted to do a collection that was inspired by hunting birds and prey. I wanted to keep it dark, gothic, sexual but with very fine and intricate Indian embroidery."

Sabyasachi's models donned saris draped over jackets, short dresses, long maxi dresses, skirts and trousers, capes, bandhgalas with shawls, sherwanis and Nehru jackets teamed up with Louboutin's "iconic red soles".

Louboutin, who was also present at the event, said that he has never attended a fashion show in India and he loved Sabyasachi's goth-themed ramp.

Sabyasachi opted for old Indian embroidery interpreted in a very modern way and used lot of hand embroidery from different parts of India imbibing zardozi, parsi and resham work.

Spanning five days, India Couture Week will host 10 ace fashion designers and will conclude on August 2.
