Watch: Colour-blind man mind-blown after seeing purple for the first time
Birthday boy can't believe he can see so many colours
Colour-blind people see and experience the world a lot differently from us. Those afflicted with this condition are unable to differentiate between most colours or sometimes cannot see any colour at all.
Ethan Scott, a colour-blind student living in Los Angeles, had never seen purple colour until his friend James decided to give him a pleasant surprise on his birthday. He gifted Scott a pair of special lenses, which looked like regular sunglasses but are designed to correct red-green colour blindness, which is also known as “poor colour vision.”
James filmed Scott’s reaction when he tried on the glasses for the first time, who is clueless that they are not ordinary glasses. What follows next is an emotional reaction on discovering what purple actually looks like. He even goes out in the garden and is awed by the vibrant colours of nature.
