Brave woman jumps into bullfighting pit to comfort dying animal
The animal rights activist claims that she heard the bull "crying" in pain
A brave animal rights activist did the unthinkable by jumping into a bullfighting ring to comfort a young bull as he lay breathing his last. Virginia Ruiz also tried to shield the dying animal from the matador’s sword with her own body. The 38-year-old said that she could hear the bull “crying” and decided to leap into the Malaga fighting pit in Southern Spain.
Ruiz held up an animal rights poster as she ran across the arena before reaching the injured animal on the ground. She claimed that she was hauled away by officials and fans and then kicked and spat at, as reported by the Mirror. After that the hecklers also called her a “whore” and told her to “go back to the kitchen”.
“He was still alive before they could do the final stabbing with the small knife in the back of the neck. He was crying. He tried looking at the people,” she told the Dodo website.
The animal rights activist claimed that she was at the bullfight, which was free admission, in order to film the killings in the ring as part of a campaign against the violent sport.
