Sai Pallavi, the beloved Malar who captured hearts through her role in Premam is on study leave and has been burning the midnight oil at her home in Coimbatore.

She has been travelling to Kerala on and off to attend functions and we are curious to know her plans for Onam, since the audience in Kerala has accepted her wholeheartedly as one of their own. In fact, Sai has already got a headstart at celebrating Onam during the shoot of the film.

The audience will recollect the scenes in the song sequence of Malare ninne kanaan where Sai is seen participating in the Onam celebrations dressed in the traditional Kerala Kasavu saree.

Confessing that she has nothing planned as of now for Onam, she mentions, “If the Premam team is planning a get-together for Onam, I might come down, otherwise, I am preparing for my exams; these guys are totally unpredictable, they can suddenly plan something! The other thing is that Alphonse’s wedding has been my Onam celebration, catching up with the entire cast and crew of Premam.”
Letting on about her recollections of Onam she says, “I have seen pookalams and people dressed as Mavelis so I know that part and I had a lot of Malayali friends who would get food from their house, especially payasam because I love it.” About her Premam Onam, Sai reveals, “I donned the Kerala saree for the first time for Premam. I totally relished the Onam sadya with extra helpings of the palada pradhaman and I got high on that. The song sequence also has some games like the lemon and spoon race and those were actually real with everyone participating. The fact that we were working and had to concentrate on the shoot did take away from completely letting go. I can say that I haven’t celebrated ‘Onam’ like the Malayalis do, but this was better because we had the whole celebrations in a capsule form.”
