Washington D.C: Its official! Donna Karan has stepped down as the chief designer of DKNY, the brand she founded 31 years ago.

According to sources, the company will not begin a search for a successor and the label's fashion shows will be put on temporary hiatus as well, reports Style.com.

The 66-year-old designer, who promises to remain a close advisor of the brand, plans to devote more time to her Urban Zen Company and foundation.
