Spacious interiors, subtle colours, and lots of greenery are the main highlights of Shanti Lal Patel’s house. Situated in the plush residential area of Padma Rao Nagar, the 5,500 sq. ft house spreads over three floors and is the perfect example of a modern house.
Lalit Patel, the eldest son of Shanti Lal said, “We moved into this house three months back. It took 13 months for the building to be built. We own an interior store so all the hardware and interiors were provided by us. We wanted a house that was not too flashy but spacious.”
Architect Satyajit Tuljapurkar said, “The Patels wanted a matte effect for their house so I played with colours like white, grey and brown. A lot of emphasis has been given to the lighting and the murals.”
The lights, mostly in geometric shapes, are the USP of the house. Each room has different lights and it is done up in such a way that it adds to the decor even when not lit. “The lights are all from our shop, the geometric shapes go well with our decor,” adds Lalit.
The sitting area has minimalistic furniture and the false ceiling is done up in leather which adds a warm touch to the place. The elevator area has been designed with pebbles which adds a quirky touch. The joint family lives in the first two floors while the third houses the family lounge.
