Mysuru just got a high dose of fashion, fervour and frenzy. Things got off to a stylish start at the Mysore Fashion Week at Country Inn & Suites. With all the hustle and bustle behind the scenes, we bring you a first-hand peek of the backstage which was a flurry of colours, designs and lithe models. The green rooms are always a blend of excitement, revelry and fun with makeup and hair artist Robert Naorem leading with his team and taking the style quotient a notch higher this season of MFW.
Looking fresh and chic, choreographer Achala Sachdev states, “We are strapped for time, running between fittings, rehearsals, makeup and hair, making sure that everything goes according to schedule, but a fashion week is a big event. There will be unavoidable delays, and when the show is on, everyone forgets and enjoys the clothes. And that’s what’s happening here. The efforts of the designers are commendable and everyone has done a great job.”
The main force behind the Mysore Fashion Week, Jayanthi Ballal has been on her toes to ensure a flawless event. She says, “It’s crazy when you have so many designers, so many models and showstoppers. We are running from pillar to post and there’s just endless work. I’ve been working on MFW for the past six months, but it still seems like there’s more to be done. I thank my team that’s efficient in execution, Ovez Bakshi and Snehal Igoor. Everyone’s been full of praise for how it’s been so far and it’s been a stunning close on Sunday night to this three-day extravaganza from September 4 to 6.”
Makeup and hair artist, Robert Naorem is not letting the stress from the backstage catch on. Talking of the looks he’s working on relentlessly on all the models, he explains, “For the Indo-Western outfits, I’ve created a look that suits it best — with top buns. I’ve used wing liners, lots of fuchsia and hot pinks, slick tied hair and finger waves to create the 60s and 70s look. After all day of rehearsals and fittings, models are walking back-to-back for shows, so it’s stressing us out and coffee and wine is keeping us on track. I’ve kept the hair and makeup different for every show and tried to stay away from neons this time. We have used a lot of pastels, nudes, peaches and beige for this show. Also, not to forget, the countless selfies we’re all clicking of each of our looks, pout et al.” MC Mohan Ram, who is at his best introducing designers and their collection, says, “It’s been a crazy time bringing all the designers together and make it a seamless big show for the audience.”
