Newcomers Sooraj and Athiya's 'Hero' fetches Rs 21.1 crores over the weekend

Mumbai: After setting their first record for themselves, new comers Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty’s debut film ‘Hero’ has managed to collect 21.1 crores over the first weekend since the films release.

On Friday, the film collected  6.83 crore setting a new record as the second highest debutant film in the history of Bollywod at the Indian box office, second only to Karan Johar's ‘Student Of The Year’. Johar’s ‘SOTY’, which marked the debut of Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan garnered Rs 8 crore all over India on the first day.

Despite the critic’s harsh verdict, ‘Hero’ managed to fetch Rs 6.62 crores on the second day, and say a huge jump on Sunday collecting Rs 7.63 crores. Thus making a total of Rs 21.1 crore over the weekend.
