Studies carried out by the Teenage Cancer Trust show that almost a third of young cancer patients are diagnosed so late that are at the point of being admitted to Accident and Emergency. The organisation is observing the Teenage Cancer Action week from 28th September to 4th October for raising awareness about the dreaded disease among youngsters.

So, we bring to you the five most common warning signs of cancer in young people, according to the research done by the Teenage Cancer Trust. What is scary is that these signs can often be mistaken for common illnesses. One must immediately go for medical tests if these signs persist for a long time.

These warning signs are:

  1. Pain
  2. Lump, bump or swelling
  3. Significant weight loss
  4. Extreme tiredness
  5. Changes in a mole
