A busy year ahead for Miya
Actress Miya George talks about shooting in Lakshadweep and her upcoming projects
Miya George, who recently completed the shoot of Sachy’s Anarkali in which she plays a doctor, will be playing a nurse in Marthandan’s Pavada.
“In Anarkali I play a doctor. It was a strong, character-oriented role. I’m not paired opposite anybody in the film. The shoot for the movie was fun and being in a new location was exciting. The food in Lakshadweep is very different and after a while, all of us started missing Kerala food. So we ended up making our own food with my mom making fish curry and rice and everyone else chipping in to help. Even Biju chettan (Biju Menon) cooked chicken for us.
“We also went scuba diving. In Lakshadweep, if you don’t try scuba diving, you are missing out. Now I recommend everyone planning a vacation to head to a place where they can try scuba diving. I loved it that much,” says Miya.
Referring to Pavada, she says, “I get to play another medical professional, a nurse, in Pavada, which is being produced by Maniyanpilla chettan. Shooting of Pavada is going on…it is a story set in a village. It’s not a typical countryside story, but the film has tried to incorporate the mannerisms, slang and lifestyle of village life. The dialogues are also in that style and the beauty of a village setting is explored in the film.”
Miya also plays the lead role in the upcoming film Thottavadi. “It’s a female-oriented film and my character is someone who is artistically inclined. She loves music. A friend of hers comes into her life and the story progresses from the changes that brings. She is someone who is prompted to become brave and act upon it due to certain situations,” she explains.
Miya also has a Tamil movie, Oru Naal Koothu, ready for release in November and she will join the shoot of her next Malayalam project, Hello Namaste, later this month.
