Even as they go up their career ladders and gain fame, of late, celebrities seem to be realising their social responsibilities. After Tamannaah who decided not to endorse a fairness cream, which she thought was discriminating between white and dusky skin, the leggy babe Taapsee Pannu has turned down endorsing a liquor brand.
The Arrambam actress says that she is picky about brand endorsements as she feels they are an extension of her personality. Speaking to DC, she says, “I have been very selective of my brands or my movies for that matter. It’s not just a medium for me to earn money or fame, it’s also about personal satisfaction for the work I do. I have signed a face product brand, which for your info is not a fairness cream. I’ve signed a deo brand too — I make sure that I myself use these products and can propagate their use to my audience. Liquor definitely doesn’t fit the list of products I associate with, not only because I am a teetotaller but also for the fact that I don’t want my audience to feel I support its usage. I don’t want to encourage the consumption of alcohol.”
On her career front, the actress is busy with a sci-fi thriller under CV Kumar’s direction and a film with Jai under Thiru’s direction. Her much hyped film Kaan with ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan has been postponed for time being.
