Educationist, businessman, socialite and recently-turned-actor (with OK Kanmani) Prabhu Laksshman ‘Buddy’ suffered an untimely death on Thursday afternoon due to a cardiac arrest. The much-loved Buddy was in Madurai, when he complained of chest pain, and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, doctors couldn’t save him ultimately.
Being a popular figure in Chennai’s social and film circles, the news spread within minutes of Buddy’s death, with hundreds of friends, well-wishers and actors taking to social media to express their condolences. Close pals such as entrepreneur Sam Paul, choreographer Karun Raman and others were most distraught, with many set to visit Dindigul for his last rites today.
True to his on-screen persona in Mani Ratnam’s OK Kanmani, Prabhu Laksshman was especially known for his good-natured, friendly self and was truly one of the city’s most loved patrons. He is survived by his wife Dheepa and three children.
