Eben Johnson, Vickram Kiran and Sachin Savio Dane may not look like your average rockstar when you first meet them, but once they take the stage as All The Fat Children, you won’t have any doubts about their rockstar capabilities.

The Bengaluru-based band, which started off as a three-piece at Christ University, were in the city to perform their comeback gig after a three-year hiatus. And taking their song Shut Up And Dance, I Predict An Earthquake quite literally, Hyderabadis did just that.

Frontman Eben says that Hyderabad has always been special for the band since their first competition here  in 2009. “We were competing at IIT Hyderabad, and on the way we found out about another competition in NIT Warangal,” Eben says, “We won at IIT Hyderabad, partied the night and overslept. So we caught the next bus out, and played the first slot next night and left immediately. When we reached Bengaluru the next day, we found out that we won!”

Ask them the reason for the band’s name, and Eben says, “We couldn’t decide on anything, and since we’re all just fat, we said, ‘Alright, we are All The Fat Children’.”

The band’s new single released in October. Eben says, “For a lot of people it was a trip back in time, but we were also told it’s fresh,” adding that musicians like Vir Das and Avial had appreciated their song.
