These teenagers have shown that it’s never too early to start young. This group of socially conscious teenagers with a passion and a dream, is doing its bit to change the way you think about arts. They call themselves Jazba and believe that success can strike young. Meet Ananya Ivaturi, Priya Radhakrishnan, Ashwini Narayanan, Anchita Kaul, Snigdha Bhowmick and Simran Gupta who are working towards helping others unleash their inner artist to showcase their talent for a good cause.

We speak to the girls in the age group of 15 and 16, on how they’re gung-ho about holding a series of fun events, competitions and programmes, to cumulate their resources for the twin purposes of arts and charity.

The arts aren’t just about painting a picture, singing a song, shaking a leg or dramatising, believes Anchita Kaul. “We’re a group of teenagers with a hobby and a dream up our sleeve that one day we can use that hobby to do well and all our proceeds will go for a social cause. All of us study at National Public School Indiranagar, but that’s just a coincidence.” Ashwini adds, “The idea of Jazba was born when we saw how every young Indian girl is taught an artistic trade. Sometimes, these die out, other times they are pursued further. We want to turn our art into something extraordinary and have pooled our common vision and diverse talents.”

Jazba is about realising your dream, and making another one come true. Priya says, “We have dual objectives – to promote the arts and to raise funds for charity. The amount of exposure to new ideas and experiences is immeasurable; we’ve learnt so much about professionalism, relationships and have learnt how to deal with fragile situations. The main challenges are to fund the events and raise awareness about our cause. But we will address those obstacles through social media.”

Sharing details on their first event at Bistro Claytopia, Snigdha reveals, “Vocal Adrenaline on November 20 is a music event to award the voice of change. The proceeds from the event will be donated to Asha Niketan Bangalore, a housing and visiting facility for intellectually disabled people and people with other associated disabilities. We have a Facebook page and are overwhelmed by the response so far.” Talking of their future plans, Ananya adds, “We will soon branch into more events showcasing dance, theatre and art. We’re not boasting but all of us have expertise in fields apart from the ones we head at Jazba and all of us are passionate about theatre, art, music, dance, sports, poetry and photography.”
