In love with Hyderabadi spices
Popular chef and TV host Andrew Zimmern can’t get enough of the local cuisine.
If you would have made your way past the Golconda fort on Saturday, you would have come across a commotion outside the Prince Hotel. People were rushing in and out to catch a glimpse of “a star” who was none other than chef Andrew Zimmern, eating biryani.
Andrew said he just “loves the spices in Hyderabad”. “The food here is so straight forward and I love the burst of flavours. What I found different in the cuisine here is the use of sour and bitter flavours,” he added. In the city for the shoot of his latest show for a travel and living channel, Andrew has travelled extensively across the city. “We wanted to see the city through the eyes of a local and what better way to do so than to take the help of a local cab driver and an auto driver,” he said.
One of his most favourite dishes here happens to be the dosa and the chutney from Govind’s bandi. “The chutney was out of this world. I have never eaten something like this,” he gushed. He added, “I had the paaya at Paradise and it was amazing!” Andrew is famous across the world for his culinary skills, has food shows and runs restaurants. So, what is a day in his life like? He laughed, “I go to work, my wife calls me up and sometimes yells at me to bring home groceries, so yeah, pretty normal life.”
