Playing Neerja made me stronger: Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor talks about the biopic on airhostess Neerja Bhanot.
The trailer of the much-awaited biopic on airhostess Neerja Bhanot, Neerja, was launched on Thursday.
Actress Sonam Kapoor, who is playing the valiant flight attendant in the film, launched the trailer.
The actress who has been receiving a lot of praise on social media revealed that when the script came to her, she could relate so much with it that she gave her nod immediately. “When I heard the story, I wondered whether I would able to pull it off or not, but when I met Neerja’s family, they gave me so much courage and that made me confident,” says the actress.
Even though critics have trashed Sonam’s acting skills several times the actress is trying harder to show her prowess. “I think this film is emotionally challenging and this role has made me so strong. Neerja brought a positive change in me,” she adds. “I never knew about Neerja Bhanot before signing the film,” she admits.

With a series of flops up until PRDP with Salman Khan, Sonam is desperate for a hit and she feels that Neerja will do wonders for her. “At this point of my career, I really need a break and I feel Neerja is that film for me,” she says, adding, “It was great working with director Ram Madhvani.”
Despite being the outgoing actress that she is today, Sonam confesses that as a child she never saw herself becoming an actress but it was Shabana Azmi who pushed her to become an actor.
She says, “I have always been a shy and reserved person. I had stage fright, but when my parents went to Shabana aunty, she encouraged me.”
The actress also rubbished reports that she has signed Aashiqui 3 with Hrithik Roshan. Sonam says, “I haven’t signed Aashiqui 3 with Hrithik. Though I have many offers, for now I have only signed my sister Rhea’s film.”
