Poet Addepalli Ramamohana Rao passes away

He penned 13 compilations of poetry, 25 books on literary criticism and 600 books on various genres.

Addepalli Ramamohana Rao celebrated his 80th birthday in September last and  fell ill within a couple of weeks.  He was reportedly suffering from prostrate cancer. 

Born in Chintalaguntapalem village in Machilipatnam of  Andhra Pradesh on September 6, 1936, he later shifted to  Kakinada in 1970. 

He penned 13 compilations of poetry, 25 books on  literary criticism and 600 books on various genres. 

He won the title for Praja Kavi from his fellow  poets and readers alike. 

Sahithi Sravanthi, a literary organisation  established by Rao has been undertaking several literary  activities in the city for many years

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed sorrow over Ramamohan Rao demise.

In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said, "it was a great loss to Telugu literature and it has lost a literary critic. He render a valuable service to Telugu literature and all poets remember his services," Naidu added.
