More than what meets the eye
The five-day art camp is a get-together of 10 artists whose works will find a permanent home at the hospital
It looks like any other day at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute; patients walk in and out of the hospital premises, but on the sixth floor of the new block, an art camp is on in full swing. Ten artists have been busily working at the art camp from Tuesday.
The five-day camp, hosted by the institute, was organised by artist Surya
Prakash. “I wanted to focus on local talent more. There are a few artists who have been creating very unique works here,” he says.
While each artist is working on their signature style, they are doing it on a huge canvas. “Since all these works will find a permanent home at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, I wanted the paintings to be huge enough so that they are visible from a distance,” he adds.
The artists include Masuram, Sachin Jaltare, Bharath, Jayaprakash, Ramesh Gorjala, Laxman Aelay and Anjaneyulu among others from the city, while Sudip Roy is from Delhi and Viraj Naik is from Goa.
