Tintin completes 87 years

The hugely popular comic album series went on to be adapted for radio, television, theatre and film.

Herge's iconic comic series about the adventures of the most loved reporter, Tintin, has been around for 87 years and still manages to capture the imagination of fans worldwide.

The Adventures of Tintin series first made an appearance on 10th January 1929 in a youth supplement of the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtieme Siecle. The hugely popular comic album series went on to be adapted for radio, television, theatre and film.

Apart from the hero Tintin, other popular characters from the series include his loyal fox terrier dog Snowy, Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, twins Thomson and Thompson and the opera diva Bianca Castafiore.
