GAIL gas cuts price of CNG, PNG by Rs 7

Update: 2023-04-10 08:42 GMT

New Delhi: Day after the government’s order on gas pricing mechanism, leading gas retailer GAIL Gas, an arm of state-owned Gas Authority of India Ltd (Gail India), on Sunday slashed the prices of CNG and piped-cooking gas or PNG by up to ₹7.

This move is aimed at increasing the expansion of CNG and PNG as a preferred fuel for the consumers and will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint in India.

Based on the government’s revising formula for the pricing of natural gas, the new rate will help consumers save money as the revised formula and the cap or ceiling price imposed has brought down the price of natural gas to $6.5 per million British thermal units from $8.57. It will ease the gas pricing pressure for consumers as it has been converted into CNG for running automobiles and piped into for cooking.
