Among them there were 31.2 crore women who exercised their franchise. The biggest credit goes to the little over 64 crore people who braved the elements to exercise their franchise, a majority of whom having voted in the sweltering heat of a particularly severe Indian summer. The Lok Sabha comprises a total of 545 seats. Out of these, elections will be conducted by the ECI to fill 543 seats. The remaining two seats are filled by nomination of representatives of the Anglo-Indian Community if the President feels that this community has not been represented adequately.Out of the elective seats, 79 are reserved for SC and 41 for ST.
