B R Chopra's Grandsons to Remake Pati Patni Aur Woh
Now we hear another B R Chopra hit Pati Patni Aur Woh(1978) will be remade and a lot of changes from the original can be expected.
In 2017, the late filmmaker B.R. Chopra’s grandsons Kapil and Abhay Chopra remade Chopra’s classic whodunit Ittefaq. In the endeavour to remain steps ahead of viewers, the Chopra grandsons rewrote the ending of Ittefaq since everyone already knew how the original Ittefaq ended, so the suspense had to be amended.
Now we hear another B.R. hit Pati Patni Aur Woh(1978) will be remade, and a lot of changes from the original can be expected.
A source in the know says, Pati Patni Aur Woh is the story of a philandering husband (played in the original by Sanjeev Kumar; to be played by Kartik Aryan in the remake). In this era of #MeToo, they can’t show the husband sleeping around while a trusting wife waits at home. It is not going to be easy to modify the character, make it more relevant to these times after #MeToo has erupted across the country.”
Apparently, the Chopra grandsons intend to make the hero’s character completely devoted to his wife for everything. Except for sex.
“He’s keenly interested in sex. She is not. In the Hindi remake, the other woman would have to find a really credible reason for seducing the husband out of a successful marriage.
