Badrinath Ki Dulhania to be based on dowry system?
The second instalment of Dulhania franchise seems to be taking a social way with the movie.
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt have reunited, and are hoping their pairing will score a big hit yet again with Badrinath Ki Dulhania, the second instalment in the Dulhania franchise. The duo shot for the film relentlessly in Kota Rajasthan, recently too.
The movie, which is helmed by Shashank Khaitan, has seen a lot of speculation surrounding its theme. Apparently, the movie will address the evils of dowry in the country. Says a close source, “The film deals with the dowry issues in North India, and Alia and her older sister are the victims of dowry system in the film. Varun is likely to play the role of a small town guy from Kanpur.”
Badrinath Ki Dulhania seems to be taking the societal route by addressing dowry, while its predecessor, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, which released in 2014 went the romantic way. The movie was Karan Johar’s tribute to romantic cult movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and marked the big screen debut of TV star, Siddharth Shukla. When contacted, the spokesperson of Badrinath Ki Dulhania did not get back to us on the speculations. The movie is scheduled to release on March 10, 2017.
